Before entering the Meter Setup details, make sure that the Clipsal Cortex Meter(s) is/are powered on and communicating (all three lights on the meter(s) should be solid green).
To add meter(s)
Choose how many Clipsal Cortex Meters are installed on the site.
In each meter section, keep the default meter name or rename as desired.
Next, enter the meter serial number by typing it directly or by scanning the barcode of the serial number on the device box.
Once the serial number(s) is(are) added, tap the "Get Meter Data" button. If the meter(s) is(are) added successfully, the signal strength indicator will appear right under the serial number field(s).
After you’ve added all the meter(s), proceed to the Channel Configuration step.
Once you've added the Cortex Meters successfully, you can now proceed to the Channel Configuration step where you can select and map the respective current transformers (CTs) for each circuit to be monitored
Note: The following circuits must be monitored if they are on the site
- Grid or Mains Supply
- Controlled loads - e.g. off-peak hot water system
- All solar circuits with one CT per phase per inverter- e.g. grid-tied inverters, hybrid Inverters
- AC coupled batteries - e.g. Tesla Powerwall2
Please note that for a multi-phase circuit, you are required to use CT for each phase of the circuit
E.g. 3 CTs are required for 3-phase Mains Supply and 2 CTs are required for 2-phase Mains.
3 CTs for 3-phase Solar Inverter, etc.
Depending on the site and system details entered in previous steps,
CT assignment will be grouped into the following tabs at the bottom of the page
Grid and Load tabs will be visible for every site but Solar, Hybrid and Battery tabs will only be visible if they are configured in the System Details step.
Assigning CT(s) for grid
Tab on the Grid at the bottom of the page to select and assign CT(s) for grid
If the site is single phase, select the CT used for grid. Once assigned the CT will have a green circle.
If the site is 2 or 3-phase, you will need to select 2 or 3 CTs for grid respectively. Once selected, also select the corresponding phase for the circuit/CT as well.
There is a "Polarity" toggle button for every CT as well.
The default toggle position is "left".
If a CT is installed but its arrow (direction) is facing the wrong way (refer to CT direction in the quick install guide), change the "Polarity" toggle position to "right".
The next step is to assign CT(s) for the solar inverters.
For Solar CT(s)
- Finally, proceed to the CT configuration for all the loads present on the site. Specify the number of loads that wish to be monitored, then select the load types and we will autofill the load names for you. Please note that the load names entered is what the site owner will be seeing on their Cortex app.
- For hot water and underfloor heating, please use the toggle switch provided to specify whether it is a controlled load or not.
- For each individual CTs, you can remotely configure the phasing and polarity even if you are not present on the site.
- Once you've assigned all the CTs, proceed to the Source and Load Tests section.
Source and load tests
This section of the meter setup checks if all solar, loads and grids are configured properly.
- Tap on Run All Tests.
- It might take up to a minute to run all tests, once you’ve passed all the tests, proceed to the Customer Details step.
If any of your tests fail, tap on the relevant tests section to view a further breakdown of why the test has failed. Update Phasing and/or Polarity and run the specific test again. You may also choose to skip the tests to proceed to the next step.
